I recently read this analogy on facebook. I found it very thought provoking and it caused me to really reflect. I hope that it has a similar impact on you.
You are holding a cup of coffee when someone comes along and bumps into you or shakes your arm, making you spill your coffee everywhere. Why did you spill the coffee? "Because someone bumped into me!!!" Wrong answer. You spilled the coffee because there was coffee in your cup. Had there been tea in the cup, you would have spilled tea. *Whatever is inside the cup is what will spill out.* Therefore, when life comes along and shakes you (which WILL happen), whatever is inside you will come out. It's easy to fake it, until you get rattled. *So we have to ask ourselves... “what's in my cup?"* When life gets tough, what spills over? Joy, gratefulness, peace and humility? Anger, bitterness, harsh words and reactions? Life provides the cup, YOU choose how to fill it. What are you filling your cup with? You can't control when you are going to get bumped, make sure your cup is filled with good things! Here are you STAFF NOTES for this week "I only hope that we don't lose sight of one thing - that it all started with a mouse"
-Walt Disney All great things got started somewhere. My challenge for you this week is to reflect back on your WHY. WHY did you go into education? Its easy sometimes to get caught in the hustle and bustle of education and forget why you chose to teach over everything else in the world. When you get frustrated or upset about something, go back to your WHY. I would be willing to bet that whatever it is that is bothering you, is lesser than your why. It's just sometimes, in the moment you lose sight of where it all started. Take this week and get back to your WHY, remember that it all started with a "mouse" Here are your STAFF NOTES for this week. When you make your way down to the bottom of staff notes this week you will see that there isn't a whole lot of "extra" going on. The next few weeks are going to be good "normal" 5-Day weeks for us to really buckle down and get some learning done.
We ask that you give students a fresh start everyday. We know how difficult that can be in some cases. This is the start of a new month. If you have one of those students that you are really starting or continue to struggle with, pull them aside today and let them know that you are excited that its the start of a new month and that they are getting a fresh start with you. Here are your STAFF NOTES for this week. |
