Here we are on the doorstep of May.
"I'm concerned sometimes about the martyr narrative about teachers giving everything they have and sacrificing themselves along the way because they owe it to the students. Um, actually kids need well-rested teachers. They need teachers who have a life outside of teaching." - John Spencer I feel like I talk about this a lot in staff notes. PLEASE make sure that you are able to be your best self each and everyday. Take the time to be YOU! Here are your STAFF NOTES for this final week of April. "What makes a child gifted and talented may not always be good grades in school, but a different way of looking at the world and learning." - Chuck Grassley
As we continue to enter the "testing season" its easy to begin labeling our students based on their testing abilities. I challenge you to continue looking at the whole child. Testing will always be around and it is important but lets not let that be the definition of who we are. Here are your STAFF NOTES for this week. I hope these notes find you rested, relaxed, and ready to attack our final quarter of the school year. If you are anything like me your brain is already off vacation and spinning into "sprint" mode just thinking about all the stuff that needs to be done before the end of the year. My message this week for you is simple. DON'T SPRINT. If you starting panicking and trying to accomplish your whole "to do" list tomorrow then you are going to get burnt out. Your students and colleagues need you to be calm and in control as we enter this final quarter. If you feel yourself becoming overwhelmed, "re-plate your food" and focus on being 1% better than yesterday. We got this!
