Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending. -Carl Bard
I love the feeling of a new beginning and a fresh start. I'm sure all of us as adults and students alike have thought about what Monday is. I've heard kids, parents, staff members and myself mention the "fresh start" that begins Monday. We all have different reasons why we are "excited" for the new semester. Maybe its finally time for a student to earn that "A", a teacher to try that new strategy for student engagement, or for any of us to go out on a limb and make an uncomfortable change. Whatever it might be...it begins tomorrow. I encourage you to approach this semester with a fresh mindset. Like the quote says, NO ONE CAN GO BACK AND MAKE A BRAND NEW START. I challenge you to TRULY give students a fresh start. It is an easy thing to say, but how are your actions going to model this fresh start. We can make students hear any words we want them too, but your actions will be what means the most. Whats done is done, lets take this fresh opportunity and help our students make a BRAND NEW ENDING! Here are your STAFF NOTES for this week! Make it a GREAT one! "Do the difficult things while they are easy and do the great things while they are small. A journey of a thousand miles must begin with one small step" - Lao Tzu
This week we will watch one semester end and a new semester begin. As we look ahead to ALL the things we know will hit us in the nest 18 weeks, I'm asking you to focus on the small steps that you can do each day. It can be very easy to start focusing on testing and everything we want to squeeze in this year. Instead take a look at each week or even each day and find one battle that you want to conquer. Those small steps will had up to great things. With that here are your STAFF NOTES for this week. "Either you run the day, or the day runs you" - Jim Rohn
Short but sweet quote that I think speaks directly to the field of education. No matter how we feel physically or emotionally, whether we a prepared or unprepared we all have a lot of kids and colleagues who are coming in expecting our best. You all have a lot of experience with what it takes, especially here at the end of the semester. My challenge for you this last week before the end of the semester is to be intentional in everything you do both at school and in your own personal life. Have a plan, set goals, and "Run the Day" Here are your STAFF NOTES for this week. "I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You're doing things you've never done before, and more importantly, you're doing something." - Neil Gaiman
Welcome Back ALL! I hope that our break was a time for you to recharge and enjoy time with the people who are important to you. I apologize again for the delay in our weekly posting. Special shout out to Sandy for helping get my chromebook back up and running. As we return and encounter the winter blues, new semester, and a long haul in the calendar I hope that you feel the itch to continue being innovative and open minded in our journey. You are going to face many opportunities where you will need to decide to "try something new" or take the "same safe approach". I want to challenge and encourage you to be vulnerable and go for the new things. If it blows up then we regroup, reevaluate, and make adjustments. I look forward to being blown away by the things our colleagues manage to do in this new year! With that here are your STAFF NOTES for this week! |
