I hope you were all able to use Friday afternoon to kickstart a nice weekend for yourselves. The investment that all of you made last week is so important to our students, families, and community. I had lots of positive feedback from families about their interactions with all of you, so thank you!
Staff notes are pretty short this week. There isn't a whole lot of "Extra" things going on. This would be a great week to really touch base with some of those students who might be struggling in your class. Get them to your Trojan Time for a re-teach or encourage them to get to ASAP. We have two weeks before the first quarter ends. After that we will begin assigning students to RASAP to really give them support for the second half of the semester. I'm looking forward to seeing you all back tomorrow ready to roll. Lets have a GREAT week. Here are your STAFF NOTES for this week. There is really no other way to put it. This is going to be a long week. Throughout my career I've also found it to be one of the most important and enlightening weeks. Use this opportunity to meet parents and begin to learn "more of the story" about your students. I also want you to remember to take care of yourself. Find a way to relax and "de-stress" this week.
Here are your STAFF NOTES for this week. "We never know which lives we influence, or when or why." -Stephen King
As we enter this week I know that all of us have a "vision" or plan for how this week will look. As we all know, the chances of the week going exactly like that are slim to none. When I read the quote by Stephen King, I couldn't help but think of how important it is for us to stay flexible and willing to go with what is presented. The control we have over our week ends once it is planned. As your week begins to go in a different direction than you planned remember that "we never know which lives we influence, or when or why". It might not be the way in which we envisioned, but I guarantee that you are having influence every minute of the week, so JUST GO WITH IT! With that, here are your STAFF NOTES for this week. When the year started we all had a vision for how this year would go. I shared a quote by Mike Tyson and by now our vision may have taken that punch Mr. Tyson referred to. I would like to encourage you to go back and think about our baseball bat activity on opening day. If you feel like you are running all over trying to balance everything, maybe you need to change your focus. Step outside your comfort zone and try something new. Be vulnerable and don't be afraid to try something and have it not work out. Let Derek and I know if there is something you need from us to help change your focus.
